Both cardiovascular disease (CVD) and coronary heart disease (CHD) have economic costs for the United Kingdom.
In 2006 CVD cost the UK health care system around £14.4 billion. 72 per cent of this cost was the cost of hospital care, 20 per cent of the cost was the cost of medication.
